About

Hi, I’m Melissa Kennedy. I’m a professional photographer located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, originally from Texas.  My passion for photography began when I was twelve years old, and still continues today. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree of Fine Arts in Photography from the College of Art and Art History at the University of Oklahoma.  I have also taught classes on digital and portrait photography at Oklahoma City Community College.

Since graduating from the University of Oklahoma in 2012 I have been working as a freelance photographer and have experience in photographing high school and college graduations, family photos, weddings, engagements, reunions, and all-day and multi-day events. I enjoy the photojournalistic style of photography. I have worked with black and white photography, as well as alternative photographic practices, such as cyanotypes, platinum, and gum prints. I have produced high quality photographs from various locations such as the country of Granada in the Caribbean; both city and jungle environments in Thailand; various locations in both the city, country side, and castles of Europe; the wonderful and beautiful countries of Uganda and Ethiopia, Africa; and many regions throughout the grand United States and Canada.

In addition to photography, and in no particular order, some of my interests include painting, drawing, reading, hiking, camping, nature, travel, long road trips, meeting new people and new cultures, cooking, learning new things, teaching, sleeping, singing, my faith and family (I’m married with four children and two grandchildren), my German Shepherd, antiques, mason jars, and iron skillets.  I have also worked as an early childhood educator, and love children.

I am constantly learning new things in Photography and fine art, and am determined to remain a life-long learner.
